Role permissions

You can invite and manage users on your HUMAN account from the Platform settings. All users can have granular permissions, roles, and access to each HUMAN product as needed.

You can learn how to invite and update users in this article.

Prerequisites

  • Appropriate user role to manage other users. You can view these role permissions from Platform settings > Permissions and selecting Platform. By default, this means you need to be at least one of the following roles:
    • IT / Devops
    • User manager
    • Admin
  • If you’re adding a user, you need to have an authentication method configured. See Authentication for more information.

Invite a user

  1. Navigate to Platform settings > User management.
  2. Click Invite new user.
  3. Fill out all the fields in User Details and set their role for each HUMAN product in User Roles.
  4. Click Invite user.

HUMAN will send an invite email to the address you specified while inviting them. Once they follow the steps to create their user account and log in, they’ll have access to the HUMAN platform.

Update a user

All users that are part of your HUMAN account appear in your User management settings. If you have many users, you can filter your users to find the one you’re looking for.

There are two ways you can edit a user:

Update roles

You can quickly update any user’s roles directly from the users list.

  1. Navigate to Platform settings > User management.
  2. Find the user you want to update. You can use the filters to narrow down your search.
  3. Click the user.
  4. Click the Role dropdown menu to choose a new role for each product.

The user’s role will update accordingly.

Update a user profile

If you need to make more changes to a user, such as their email, authentication method, or the products they have access to, then you can make those updates from their user profile.

  1. Navigate to Platform settings > User management.
  2. Find the user you want to update. You can use the filters to narrow down your search.
  3. Hover over the user and click More options > Edit user profile.
  4. Update any of the fields as needed for that user.

You can’t switch a user’s authentication method from SSO to email and password if they did not have a password set up previously. If you want to switch a user to email and password, you need to invite them instead.

  1. Click Save changes.

Delete a user

When you delete a user:

  • If you’re using user or group provisioning with an IdP using SCIM, deleting a user will only deactivate them, not delete them.
  • Otherwise, deleting a user permanently removes them from your HUMAN account. If this user ever needs to access HUMAN again, then they need to be re-invited.
  1. Navigate to Platform settings > User management.
  2. Find the user you want to update. You can use the filters to narrow down your search.
  3. Hover over the user and click More options > Delete user.
  4. Click Delete to confirm you want to remove that user.
